Patagonia Trek 2005 Print

In December 2005 I was in Punta Arenas, Chilean Patagonia waiting for a flight to Antarctica. These flights are very weather dependent and I learnt that we were likely to wait for several days. Together with the two clients who were waiting to climb Mt Vinson in Antarctica I hired a car for a few days and drove north to the Torres del Paine National park.

We spent a few days doing short hikes in the southern part of the park. This is the most accessible part of the park as an access road connects several hotels and National park facilities.

These pictures were taken during this trip.

In January 1995 I had previously visited the park. Together with Martin Downing I completed the circular trek around the Torres in an anti clockwise direction starting from Hosteria Las Torres at the eastern end of Logo Nordenskjold.
